Chief Technology Officer
Evan Davies is the Chief Technology Officer of Downhole Technology LLC. For 15 years prior to Downhole, Evan was with Halliburton where he held numerous positions and worked on a variety of products including wireline imaging tools, instrumented drilling motors and rotary steerable tools. Prior to joining Halliburton, Evan spent more than 10 years working in a combination of wellsite engineering and research and development with Computalog. Evan holds an Engineering Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Systems and Control Systems with a specialization in Computer & Process Engineering from the University of Regina in Canada. Evan is a certified Professional Engineer in Alberta, Canada, and a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers. Prior to joining Downhole, Evan accrued 7 U.S. patents and 16 international patent applications, all in logging and well drilling, downhole imaging and resistivity. In his current position Evan has accumulated approximately 20 U.S. patent applications on behalf of Downhole Technology.
Testing and Fabrication Manager
Paul Galland is the Testing and Fabrication Manager of Downhole Technology LLC. Prior to joining Downhole, Paul worked for a photography company as well as freelanced. One of his biggest projects was for Wind Energy Systems Technology, which owned the first wind farm off the shore/coast of Galveston. Paul has a Bachelor of Science in Digital and Photographic Imaging, which has served him well as he has developed brochures and technical sheets, and assisted in the development of Downhole’s first website.
Machine Shop Manager
Israel Castelan is the Machine Shop Manager of Downhole Technology LLC. Prior to joining Downhole as one of its original employees in 2010, he worked for several companies, honing his machining and fabrication skills as well as taking on various leadership roles. He is responsible for the rapid development of the innovative machining techniques, tools and fixtures that have produced the remarkable advances in the complex parts contained in Downhole products. Israel leads the manufacturing efforts of Downhole using Lean Manufacturing, Single-Minute Exchange of Die (SMED) and the purchase of state-of-the-art machining centers and robotics. He ensures that Downhole remains on the leading edge of manufacturing by attending the most important international shows and seminars, working closely with vendor engineers and experimenting with new ideas. Israel is certified in various machine software languages and has college credits in electronic engineering.
Bill Xia is the Engineering Supervisor of Downhole Technology LLC. Prior to joining Downhole, Bill worked with SJV Valve Limited in Shanghai, China, as an intern. Bill has a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from The East China University of Science and Technology and holds a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Houston. He holds a certification in Subsea Engineering from the University of Houston and is currently pursuing the Professional in Project Management certification. Bill is a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers.
Research and Process Engineer
Yanan Hou is the Research and Process Engineer of Downhole Technology LLC. Prior to joining Downhole, Yanan worked for the Composites Engineering & Application Center / National Wind Energy Center as a Research Assistant. She has published a multitude of papers, all well received within the scientific community, such as Performance Tests of Boss Hog Frac Plugs under Temperature and Pressure, which was presented at the Society for the Advancement of Materials and Process Engineering in 2014. Yanan has a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Design, Manufacturing and Automation from East China University of Science and Technology in Shanghai, China, and holds a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Houston. She is a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers, the Society for the Advancement of Material and Process Engineering, the American Society of Composites, and the American Society of Testing Materials where she also serves as a member of the Composite Materials Committee.
